They shouldn't be tortured if they are they are just cruel heartless people that shouldn't take care of them.
Unless cows are dominatrix warriors which love being in bondage or being whipped with leather straps? Sorry that was bad

Well, good cheese comes from happy cows, yes. So why not just support those cheese companies that you know have happy cows?

It's not hard to find farmstead cheeses. If you can't visit the farms, then look at their websites. I visited a few farms last year including the farm that makes Point Reyes blue cheese (farmstead) and another small farm that harvested milk for Cowgirl Creamery. Their cow's look pretty happy and had lots of space to roam.

Though soy cheese is still pretty good, most of us are accustomed to eating cow's milk cheeses or cheeses from other animals. Just keep in mind where the cheeses, or in that case, anything you eat comes from. It's always good to support local businesses (sustainability) or places you know treat their products with respect.

And to the girl above me who said she only likes Wisconsin cheese, it doesn't matter where your cheese comes from as long as you know the farmers treated their animals with respect.

Use only Organic cheese, they treat the animals very humanly. It's part of the whole organic movement. No drugs to make them ill , no death to make rennet.
