No. HIV is not inherited like a genetic disease, like for example colorblindness or sickle cell.

HIV is passed down to the infant from the mother only if the mother has the virus. Take for example a father who has HIV and a mother who does not. Just because the couple has sex doesn't mean she will contract HIV from him. So, if she never contracted the virus from, it's possible for her to have a healthy non-HIV baby. The mother has to have the virus to pass it down to the child.

So it's technically passed down, not inherited.

it's not refered to as inherit, but it can be passed from mother to child durring birth. HIV can also be transmited if there is an error in blood transfusion and they use infected blood on the patient that has become very rare though because ppl are now tested before donating blood. Any contact with bodily fluids from an infected person can transmit the disease, exept for buggers, ear wax or saliva. Only if one were to drink about 3 pts of an infected person's saliva. I hope this helps

No, it is not a genetic disease. It can be passed from the mother to an unborn child if measures are taken to ensure that it doesn't. Certain drugs can be prescribed now that can reduce the rate of transmission from mother to unborn child but they are not 100% effective.

Still, the main ways of getting HIV:
1. Unprotected sex from an infected individual.
2. Blood transfusion from an infected individual.
3. Contaminated bodily fluids from an infected individual.
