Wash your food in warm/cool water with a very small amount of dish soap. You just need a drop or less. Depends on how much you have too wash. My mother-in-law used to wash some things in cold water with sea salt in it. Good luck!! With the E-coil threat going around now I would think about using an antibatterial dish soap.

Water really is the best way. When I buy cantaloupe and things with grooves, I use a separate brush to scrub stuff off....by brush, I mean like dish-scrubbing brush. As to your question about spinach, hold off on buying fresh spinach for while and instead by canned. As it is, the e-coli outbreak is dying down and the government is allowing spinach into stores again. Still, I'd wait for a while before buying it fresh.

Sorry to say but if any veggys have e-coli u cannot wash it off. But as for the other i just rinse them off in cold water they do make a vegtable wash that you can use. I do not know what the ingrediants are thow. All i do is use a veggy brush and cold water. I buy organic. I hate that they color enhance everything now. And they use wax on veggy too. gross!

Wash them under cold running water for 5 minutes. Then use a salad spinner to dry them off. They really work great!

just wash them in running water, and if they do have the grooves, then soak them in cold water for 1 hour. then you can cook. never add any chemical with fresh vegetables, because it can even poison the person when they eat it.

Stores sell veggie brushes, use one of those on them, and I'd stay away from fresh spinach for a while, unless you grow it in your own garden.
