Yes and pretty quickly too if the bad one in the bunch is not taken away when you find it. Best to keep them in a cool place. If you cut them for an apple pie.. cover them with lemonjuice in a bottle to keep them from browning.

Ripe means they are mature and ready to eat. All fuits and veggies get ripe.

Keep it together with many apples - they produce ethylene - gaseous ripening hormone that accelerates fruit ripening. The more of it in the air -the quicke your fruits ripen. I thing the ripening basckets use this principle too.

Yes they ripen. Many times slower than most other fruits, but they still ripen. You can tell if they are starting to get softer.

They do ripen. All fruits ripen. If none did, we wouldn't be able to eat them.
