My little guy was born August 1st, and he has had the sniffle this past week. My mom (Ambler's grandma) took one look and put on her bathing suit and hopped into the tub with him. I am afraid to do the same, because my hubby brough Genital Herpes to our marriage and I am infected. Even when I don't have visible sores I am afraid to bathe with my son.

Does anyone know if it woudl be okay? If I wore plastic or latex panties? It looked like so much fun, my littel guy was trying to seim and it cleared his tiny nose right up.

I would never do anything to affect AJ with an STD. Let me know your ideas. Thanks people...

Marjorie - what is your problem? Alcoholism? You don't look well at all. Please behave yourself with those of us who ask serious questions.

People are so rude on here!

Genital herpes can be spread whether you are having an outbreak or not, so you are always going to want to be careful when it comes to any kind of skin to skin contact with your genital area.

You should be just fine taking a bath with your son though as long as you wear some kind of clothing covering your genital area. Chances are he won't get the virus from you, but when it comes to small children and babies you really can never be too careful!

Good luck and congrats on your new baby boy!

I honestly do not know, and i reccommend you just ask your doctor.

I know it;s okay to give birth if you have herpes - as long as you are not having an outbreak. So if you can give birth and it's okay, I don't see why it would be a problem as long as you were not having an outbreak.

Again though, I def. reccommend just make a phone call to your doctor as ask. Or if your insurance has that 24hr nurse line, call them and ask.

It is probably unlikely, but like yourself I would be too worried about it to do it. I would ask your Dr. first.

It's not infectious unless active- you got a "cold sore".
