Basically any doctor can take off samples to test for STD's. The tests are normally performed at a microbiology lab. I'm a Biomedical Scientist and I perform tests on patients samples to determine if they have STD's. Microbiology labs perform these tests on GP samples, family planning, GUM clinics.

Doctors involved primarily in STD testing normally work for the GUM (Genito - Urinary Medicine) clinics or sexual health clinics.

There really is no name for a doctor that does that. Many doctors are able to diagnose STDs. A family doctor, an OBGYN doctor, even doctors at places like Planned Parenthood.

If you are female I would recommend a gyno, or as a male I would recommend starting with your family doc.
