HPV isn't always sexually transmitted, but it is pretty rare to have it and not have had some sort of sexual contact.

It's possible to get HPV from skin to skin contact. This doesn't always have to be sexual contact though. If someone has warts on their hands and the person is constantly hold hands with them, it can spread to them. Also, feet warts are caused by HPV, so rubbing feet together with someone who has warts on their feet can pass it too.

Yes, unfortunately, it is possible (and all too frequent) to pass HPV during sexual abuse. Ask any social worker or pediatrician who has to examine children who are molested -- child victims can get warts (the only outwardly visible symptom of HPV). It's so sad!

So where am I going with this? If the woman was molested or raped as a kid, she may have been asymptomatic for a long time before showing symptoms. HPV hides for long periods of time. YEARS and years!

As for men, they seldom show signs. They can get penile or rectal cancer from HPV, but it is extremely rare. Moreover, 1% of all people carrying wart-causing strains of HPV will ever show warts. So he may have HPV, but he wouldn't ever have any way of knowing it because there's no clinically available test for HPV for men.

I doubt it. if there was no penetration. I don't think it grows on your fingers. At least not HPV. Other kind of warts yeah. I had warts on my finger when I was a teen and fingered some girls. But they didn't get it. I don't have HPV though.

Check out this website. I think it's usually an STD but sometimes has other ways of being aquired. It can be dormant for years before you realize you have it. It can go away on it's own, but may not, and it needs to be taken care of in a female, as it can lead to cervical cancer for her. Website:
