Water promotes good health in many ways, from reducing the risk of certain cancers to improving short-term memory and weight loss. For example, in a 10-year study of nearly 48,000 men, those who drank six eight-ounce glasses of water daily were half as likely to develop bladder cancer as those who drank just a glass a day. Although the study included only men (who run a higher risk of bladder cancer than women), drinking plenty of water and other fluids may well protect both sexes, says the study's lead author, Dominique Michaud, a researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.

Not drinking enough water can also make you fat. When you don't drink enough water, your body secretes a hormone, aldosterone, that causes tissues to hold on to almost every molecule of liquid water retention. New research shows that a decrease in water may cause your body's fat deposits to increase.

Another side effect of hidden thirst is that you may think you're hungry when you're actually thirsty. Drinking water throughout the day keeps your stomach feeling full and reduces the desire to eat. The colder the beverage, the greater its fat-burning power. Maximize calorie burn by keeping the water ice-cold.

The reak answer is that by cutting your sugar intake is the best way to get a jump on lowering your blood sugar. By drinking water alone will not do it because the sugar is still inside your body. If your PANCREAS is not working properly then it doesn't matter what you do. Your kidneys will suffer. You have to live a healthier life overall by eating right, exercisind and have regular check ups.

Yes if you add vinegar to it. Things like vinegar and lemon juice which have a high acidity help counter those spikes in sugar levels. Also, avoid potatoes, corn, rice and wheat products. Check out the glycemic index chart, it will be useful. Add a TBS of vinegar to a glass of water with each meal and see what it does to your blood sugars.

Water is of very limited help. Excessive water intake induces diuresis. More urine takes more glucose and salt out of blood. More urine reduces serum creatinine also and protects kidney. But water is not a treatment for diabetes, hypertension or stress.

The best support is nothing from his own diet, excersise , medication and the RIGHT STUFF he should eat. Ask him to cut carbohydrates. Take him to a good doctor Diabetes is not just insulin injections, Is he taking BP pills or not, Is he taking medicine for heart or not. Also check his A-1C report.

Go to american diabetes association website and take Free PHD evaluation. Follow all medicines/ He must control his Blood pressure.

Its not really helpful other than the body needs it. BUT for high blood pressure it can be a killer. (Any liquid)
I am a type 1, with HBP, and now on diaysis. If I so much as drink one extra ounce of liquid my Blood pressure goes sky high and my dialysis treatment goes off wack too!
.
Have your Aunt or uncle talk to their doctor for a better treatment plan, sometimes I have to have a "stress" pill added to get thru the really ruff times and I think thats ok! with all the crap we go thru just to live and than a stressful event shows up too!!!
And good for you for taking care of your uncle.
