Any cough lasting that long should be checked out by a doctor to rule out TB, or other communicable dieseas as well as a chronic condition.
TB can be contracted very easily and you don't have to be poor to contract it.

Causes of Allergic cough :
1. Since it is an Allergic cough, the cause of it may be associated with allergies. Cough is largely caused by the allergies that tend to be airborne. In case you are allergic to these airborne triggers then chances are that you may display symptoms like congestion or rashes when exposed to the allergens such as pollen, dust, smoke, etc.
2. Infection, flu, viral fever or cold might be another cause of allergic cough. The symptoms of this may include chest congestion, runny nose, perennial cough, etc.
Treatment of Allergic cough :
The risk of the asthma attacks may be reduced by using an air spray or an inhaler. To relieve yourself from chest congestion, you musty drink a lot of juices and water.

If it's an allergy, then of course identify the source/cause. Probable best treatment is a steriod inhaler.
