my boyfriend went down below last night and he has a cold sore its about a week old and its not open anymore but its still there both of us didnt think about it untill afterwards and now we are both worried about it are the chances high of getting genital herpes even though his cold sore is almost healed?

Pretty good of catching Herpes Simplex 1. Not so good of catching Herpes Simplex 2. You should probably find another means of stimulation, or assume that this will be your only partner.

when I was in high school, my friend had a cold sore on his month, we told him not to go down on his g/f till its gone, they didn't listen to us, and she ended up with Herpes at age 16! She didn't know what it was at 1st we told it its most likely herpes, it got so bad were she could not walk!! DONT be careless again, and I hope you don't have end up with it!

There are two forms of herpies. Cold sores, canker sores whick are both re occurring, and then there is genital warts. I believe something around 90% of people will have a cold sore in their life, so as long as its not genital herpes you should be alright. It never hurts to get tested, pee in a cup and draw a little blood they will know.

I believe genital herpes and cold sores are two separate varieties - simplex 1 & 2. So you probably wouldn't get one from the other.

Herpes is contagious even if no sores are visible. It is a painful disease that is without a cure.
