Do you mean tapping fists...sort of like a mini punch to eachothers fists.
I don't think there is a word for that greeting, but it is very much an "I am all right, you are all right" brotherly kind of gesture.
I see it used not just as a greeting but also as a celebration (like in sports or between musicians on stage) Or in AHA! moments, when two people totally agree about something.

Your question should say
Today when you meet people it seems common to tap fists as a greeting. What do you call this?
