Well I have had a what i think to be a urinary tract infections off and on fro the last 6 months. When i take the medicine for it they go away, but my mom thinks i have a std. would urinary tract infection medicine get rid of std symptoms?

no, typically, STD antibiotics cover for the bugs causing simple UTI's so if you were diagnosed and treated for a STD, you would be covered for the UTI too, see a doctor for these symptoms and for further evaluation, good luck

No UTI medicine will not treat an STD! You could have chronic UTIs or a very stubborn one that will not go away with antibiotics! I had to take 2 courses of antibiotics for one a few years ago. They have test kits at the drug store for UTIs you might pick one up & see if that is what you have. If you don't come up with a positive answer you should get checked out by the doctor. Depending on the STD it can be very serios & cause infertility! Good luck! PS If it is chronic UTI you might want to start taking cranberry pills or drinking cranberry juice daily. It helps to clear out your UT.

Your best bet is to see your doctor. They can get a urine sample, culture it and find out what is growing and which medications are most effective. If you are having chronic UTIs, you should be drinking more fluids, and not sugary pop and juices, but lots of water and acidic juices, like grapefruit or cranberry. Be careful, t hough as grapefruit juice can interact with many other medications. I eat yogurt with the cultured bacterias on a daily basis and that helps me keep the normal flora of bacteria in my system to prevent UTIs. Also be very careful when toileting to always wipe from front to back, never back to front as that is almost a sure bet to start a UTI because you are inadvertently wiping stool with E. coli into your urethral area. It wouldn't hurt to be tested for STDs either, just as a precaution. Diabetics are often victims of chronic UTIs. Do you have diabetes in your family history? Might want to check that out too. good luck.

Most likely NO. Urinary tract infection drugs have sulfur in them and std drugs use medicines that are called antifungals

UTI and STD symptoms are pretty different. It is doubtful that whatever you're taking for the UTI would rid the symptoms of an std.

No, although UTI's and STDs are treated with the common floxin, diflucan, metrozandole, zithromax, etc etc... chronic UTIs aren't rare, it depends on hygeine, diet, but most of all - YOUR SEXUAL PARTNER. Men can have UTI's. If you get treated for a UTI then have intercourse with your partner, you'll most likely get exposed with the bacteria that gives you that wonderful UTI. Get your partner treated for it.

different bacteria cause different infections, the best thing to do is to get checked out. it is not a good idea to recycle antibiotics. You can cause bacteria to become resistant to certain types of antibiotics and therefore requiring a stronger one next time etc.

sometimes it takes a few days for the antibiotic to kick in,but I would call your obgyn if you dont feel better
