Okay, the people that say it is easy have never done it a day in their life. Most likely their converted from a student desk to an office desk right away.

Bartending in itself is not hard and you learn by repetition BUT making money at it is the hard part. Anyone can mix a drink but it takes a certain kind of person to keep them drinking, entertained, and put up with the billsh!t they give back. It is long hard hours of steady standing, walking, and moving. Constantly remembering tabs and checking IDs so you don't get fined while people are yelling drinks at you. Late nights and holidays too if you want to make the money. Sorry Mr. Whitecollar, remember bartenders work the hours you get to party.

I wouldn't say that it is easy but I also wouldn't consider it a hard job. It can actually be fun and it's possible to make a lot of money depending on the bar and the clientele. I bar tended for a few years and I loved it. It can be annoying dealing with drunk people though especially if you're sober. I always drank a tiny bit behind the bar just to take the edge off lol

NOT easy. If you are a good bartender and want to make good money at it..you need to be able to multi-task like no other job.
You need to be able to keep track of (in a busy bar) how much every one is drinking, what they are drinking, if they are leaving without paying, deal with harassing calmly, move quickly, keep track of several orders in your head, be able to know when to replace boozes that are running low before they are gone, keep your bar backs efficiantly running for items needed, make food orders, remember how to make all of the different drinks, know how to use the computer to calculate the drinks, remember who to serve first (owners, band, and regulars...helps with keeping business going and gets you good tips...it is always great to be these peoples favorite bartender).
Aside from these basic talents, to be a really stellar bartender you should remember owner, band and regulars names and usual drink orders. You should be funny, and fast. You shoud learn a few drink pouring and other such bartender tricks. You must be able to keep interested in peoples drunken ramblings during the slow times or you will make NO tips during those times. You must be able to schmooze drunks just enough during busy times so that they REMEMBER to tip you before they go.
It really isn't a laid back,Sam Malone kind of job. Unless you are very good and working in a very busy night club you run the risk of making almost no money as most of your money will come from tips.
By the way, I noticed the majority of the people are saying it is a breeze. Yup, try it and see.

One main issue with any new hindrance is that you simply look to be faced by means of the whole lot immediately -- you end up beaten with the quantity of belongings you have got to study /recognise /as simulate/do . And the reply is that you don't ought to ;you do somewhat at a time .You study daily , no longer most effective new matters, but in addition how you can do the matters you may have discovered , even higher . Like every body else , you'll be able to most effective increase competencies and enjoy slowly at your possess speed -- no person involves a task , absolutely shaped and expert .

depends on where you get hired. your local dive bar, then no. upscale hoity-toity "lounge" then yes. all barkeeps are supposed to learn drink combinations from memory. what really happens is people will ask you for a beer. all you need to do is find a bottle opener and serve. upscale joints are the ones that order martinis and cosmopolitans and all those mixed drinks. THEN remembering how to make them is hard.

yes it is very mentally draining and physically at the end of the night your feet and legs will feel like they are falling off they hurt so bad, well if your bar is slammin anyway. you put up with a lot of sh*t if your a woman so if your thinking about you might wanna ask yourself if you handle drunk men and the occasional women hiting on you constantly. It is very fun though i enjoy it
