Did you get a throat or sputum (spit) culture? It sounds like you have a type of bronchitis caused by a mycoplasm (an unusual bacteria-like organism). If you have a dry cough, too, see your doctor-they usually treat that w/erythromycin. They should test you to see what's causing it, if tightness & pressure are there and ct san + x-rays showed nothing.
Tightness and pressure can also be symptoms of other, more serious ailments like heart disease or COPD (often misdiagnosed as asthma)! An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) would be in order if the doctor finds no infection or other disease. I agree w/the person who said your heart should be checked out for possible problems.
Another thing to check, after all these, is to have a chiropractor look for a spinal misalignment. I pulled out one of my vertebrae while rowing (there was actually a "popping" sound!) and by next morning, I could barely breath and my chest was totally locked up. The nerves running from that vertebra controlled the chest muscles and they seized up.

If somebody told me that they had tightness and pressure in their chest and back I'd be thinking that they are having a heart attack. Do you have problems breathing or are they your only symptoms. It sounds like you're having angina, which is basically the chest pain without it officially being a heart attack. Has your doctor considered the possibility of this?

I have the same problem. I always thought that it was my asthma that caused it but it turns out that it was Acid Reflux. At first I was in denial because Acid Reflux is a disease having to do with the stomach but it can effect the esophagous and you can get chest pains often. Another thing that happens is that you can't breath.

Tightness and pressure usually go with cardiac problems. Make sure the doctor checks your heart as well as your lungs.

What about an allergy??? Did the doctor tell you to take any kind of an antehistamine? Ot however you spell it. What about asthma...?? Did the doctor say anything about that? Are you anxious? Sometimes anxiety can do that.

There are many things that can cause these symptoms....both physically and mentally.
Keep consulting with your Doctor until the right diagnosis has been determined and your treatment has begun.

anxiety/panic disorders can cause these symptoms, so can the heart. Asthma can cause similar symptoms as well.
