I'm 14 years old. I got pneumonia last year while i was dating this one girl. Then I started dating this other girl who turned out to be slutty and stuff but she didnt have sex until after we broke up. I dont know if she has HIV or anything, but i kissed her on the lips when we were going out. I got mono while i was going out with her and i've read that mono could be a symptom of hiv. i know it is very rare to get it through french kissing, let alone a peck on the lips.

Mono or glandular fever can be caught from kissing. It is categorically not a symptom of HIV. Its a separate infection from the Epstein-Barr virus

Normally there are no symptoms with HIV when you catch it. HIV is a sexually transmitted disease, therefore you catch it through oral or penetrative sex. It can also be passed on by sharing needles, through cuts and on rare occasions mouth ulcers.

However both of you need to have open wounds at the same time and they need to come in contact. Saliva also has naturally anti HIV properties so it is highly unlikely you caught HIV from kissing this girl.

Also the girl would have needed to have HIV in the first place. She wasn't sexually active when you were dating therefore she doesn't have it. So you don't have HIV.

However, this is something you need to know more about and its shocking you know so little about it at your age! It is your responsibility to learn about sexually transmitted diseases before you become sexually active. I suggest searching on-line. Always take precautions to protect yourself and your partners.

Casual contact through closed-mouth or "social" kissing is not a risk for transmission of HIV. Because of the potential for contact with blood during "French" or open-mouth, wet kissing, I recommend against engaging in this activity with a person known to be infected.

However, the risk of acquiring HIV during open-mouth kissing is believed to be very low. It would be possible to spread it by kissing if both partners had extensive dental problems including gingivitis or if there was blood present in both partners' mouths making direct blood to blood contact when u kissed.. like cold sores or cuts.

Im sure u are fine. Dont worry yourself too much. Remeber, Be safe.

Yes, you can get HIV by kissing. When I got tested by my life insurance agent. He gave me a saliva test. I asked. What he needed my saliva for. He said; " To test it for the HIV virus. " He said;"Yes,you can get it just from kissing. You knew that right ? " The Insurance company used a product named OraSure. Obviously, the product works or it wouldn't be on the market and used by the Insurance companies. The virus is present in your saliva. If you have it and it can therefore be transmitted to another person through saliva if there is even the slightest microcut on the lips, tounge, gums or genitals . In your case. Not likely. But, maybe from prolonged French kissing. If either one person has a cut and HIV .
