I can't believe some of the ignorant answers here. Humans do NOT have the teeth of carnivores, our teeth and jaws resemble that of herbivores ("canines" or not - unless the person who wrote that is a vampire??). And how ignorant of that person to suggest that vegetarians don't heal properly.... excuse me?? Are you a doctor who has studied a wide range of vegetarians and their health? I've been a vegetarian since I was 11 and had surgery last year - I healed just fine and probably did better than most ppl. There are vitamins and amino acids that are mostly found and concentrated in meat sources, but if you're a vegetarian who eats eggs and dairy, you don't have to worry about that. And vegans can also get all their requirements with vitamins containing naturally derived sources. Think about it. Humans eat COWS who are herbivores! Where on earth do you think they're getting their amino acids and vitamins?! Yeah, it might be easier to just eat the cow who has already built up the amino acids and vitamins, but if you have a problem with that philosophy you can certainly build up your own from consuming vegetables, legumes and grains. Do your research before answering questions in the vegetarian section please!!

Yes. Although it is possible to get most of the nutrients your body needs from fruits and vegetables, there are certain essential amino acids that the human body needs to survive that are only found in animal protein. Our bodies are designed to eat meat. A certain amount of fat is necessary for proper metabolism. Our teeth are designed to cut meat. Also, vegetarians don't heal properly or as fast as people who eat meat in moderate amounts.

No, Vegetarians are healthier and live longer. This is a fact. We also suffer a reduced rate of cancer and heart disease, all 8 essential amino acids can be found in a plant based diet.

The best veggies are the ones that accompany a medium-rare 12-oz. filet at The Big Texan Steak Ranch!

I wouldn't say we have to. I'd say it's better for us to eat meat, but it's perfectly possible to be a vegan or whatever, and it can be done healthily, albeit usually with supplements.

Who the hell are you to decide anyone should be anything? Look at animals in the wild... predators.. are you going to stop a Tiger from hunting meat because you consider it "morally wrong"?.
Humans are natural omnivores. We have both kinds of teeth.
It was meant to be. Get over it. Do what you want... leave everyone else out of it.

not only meat has nutrition. and also, if people became vegetarians and vegans then the meat population will over populate.

No they don't, but we who eat meat can because we choose to. I don't judge those who choose to not eat meat and hope that I am not judged by those who don't. It is a chosen lifestyle. We all have free will.

It's what we are meant to be eating my dear. If not we'd all have been born without canines.
