Cardiomegaly - There are several types of cardiac enlargement and many different causes.

Concentric hypertrophy - thickenning of the wall of the heart (myocardium) often caused by hypertension.

Dilated cardiomyopathy - The walls get thinner and the inner chamber(s) enlarge.
