It is very rare that an STD will cause a period to be late, although it can happen. Generally, your period would be consistently late if an STD was the cause. It's more likely that your occasional lateness might just be a part of your natural cycle. At any rate, I strongly encourage you to speak with a doctor about it rather than yahoo answers. You can't be too careful when it comes to your health. It would suck if it was something serious that you neglected, and irreparable damage was done, when you have an opportunity to do something about it early. If you can't afford a doctor, see if there are any free or low-cost health clinics in your area.

If you suspect you have an STD, it's always best to get tested. Better to be safe than sorry!

Untreated bacterial STDs like syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia can lead to sterility. You definitely wouldn't want that!

I would personally get tested if I were you. I really don't see any link to a late period and an STD though. Some women's periods are a little irregular, while some women have their period exactly 28 days after their last one. Every woman is different!

If you haven't been tested for an STD it is possible that you have one. However I would not say that an occasional late period is an automatic symptom. In any event there would be no harm in getting yourself checked for STD's. Peace of mind if nothing else.

I wouldn't think it would take 2 years to show up, stress and other things can cause your period to be late, I don't think I have heard of STD causing a late period.

Your period being late is normal, and has nothing to do with having an STD

Yes you could have an STD, and it's important to be checked regularly, but it's normal for periods to be a little late sometimes. Mine can be up to a week off.

you probably just have an irregular cycle every now and then. Usually, STD's wont effect your period (unless there's weight loss) You can regulate it by trying a mild birth control pill
