The normal range for blood pressure is quite big. What is normal for one person may be wrong for someone else.
97/78 is on the low side but if you feel well (dont get dizzy when you stand up) it is probably normal for you.

Blood pressure higher than 130/90 is always too high, for everyone but a lower BP is usually a good thing if it is usual for you.

Why did you check it?

Although that blood pressure is a bit lower than the "perfect" blood pressure of 120/80, in reality, that number is pretty much made up. The current thinking about blood pressure is that if you don't have any symptoms, then the lower the better. Now, if you fall down every time you stand up quickly or your usual BP is significantly higher, then you should seek medical help immediately, however, if you're walking around without any problems with that number, then congradulations, you have a great blood pressure and are less likely to have problems with hypertension in later life.
And, as a doctor, allow me to generalize here, one of the trite sayings we live by is, "treat the patient, not the number" - so if you have a number that scares you, but you still feel OK, odds are, at least in the immediate future, things will be fine (there are exceptions to this, but I don't think this is one of them). Medicine is pretty complicated these days, but if you're feeling well, that already says a lot, don't try to convince yourself that you're sick ^_^.

No, it's not to low. Your blood pressure should typically be around 120/80. Your diastolic pressure (78) is pretty much right on target and your diastolic (97) isn't that far off either. A lot of times your blood pressure will vary throughout the day. How much exercise you get, your diet, the time of day taken, the position it's taken in. So 97/78 is pretty much average.

Blood pressure varies between individuals and throughout the day. Most normal blood pressures fall in the range of 90/60 mm Hg to 130/80 mm Hg.

No, in my teens my resting BP ran 90/70. Thin young people run low BP's and that is good.

No, your blood pressure is fine. The diastolic needs to be at least 60 to push blood into the brain. As long as it is that high, you're okay and there needs to be a difference between the systolic and diastolic or the blood wouldn't flow. Read up on pulse pressure, but you're okay there too.

Every doctor I have ever talked to has said that low blood pressure is always better than high. Mine is usually around 110/60 and I have to take a medicine for my MVP (mitral valve prolapse) and it lowers my blood pressure even more.

The only thing that stinks about having low blood pressure is feeling tired, not being able to stand up quickly and headaches.

It's possible that this is your normal blood pressure. if you aren't feeling symptoms such as lightheadedness when going to a standing position often, you're fine. If that blood pressure is maintained because of blood pressure medications, i would talk to your doctor about adjusting the dosages or the meds. if thats not the case, you're probably fine. my normal is about 104/65.
