No, once your heart is enlarged, it generally stay that way. How well the heart functions (wall motion, blood flow, valve function) are much more important than the size. If blood pressure is normal, then you should be okay, but need to have those things assessed by cardiac ultrasound, ECG is just a screening tool to find other problems that need deeper evalutation

I had an enlarged heart a while ago. It started going back to normal after approximately 2 weeks. It took a while for it to get totally back to normal though. What I learned from a lot of studying is that the heart obviously is a muscle and that with just anaerobic exercises the heart becomes tough and can tear easily. You need a good balance between anaerobic and aerobic exercises to keep the heart both strong and pliable. I was just lifting a lot without any aerobic exercises. I jog now in addition to lifting. My heart is stronger now than when I was younger. One thing that I initially had to do was absolutely nothing for those first two weeks to let the heart heal. I mean other than getting off the couch and going to the bathroom, NOTHING! My doc didn't even want me playing video games which could get the heart racing. This helped me. Good luck to you.You can email me if you want more info that I found while researching during my illness.

Cardiomegaly is a medical condition wherein the heart is enlarged. It is generally categorized in the following manner:

Cardiomegaly due to dilation
Cardiomegaly due to ventricular hypertrophy
Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)
Right ventricular hypertrophy (RVH)
Left atrial enlargement
It is not always negative; athletes often have enlarged hearts. However, it can often be associated with other serious medical conditions.

This is something you need to take up with your doctor. Only he can truly say if it is a medical concern. Make an appointment to see him . If this is serious you do not want to put it off and I think you should assume it may be until the doctor says otherwise. Good luck!

It could be down to training, but i think its genetic and your born with it. I knew someone who was born with an excessivly enlarged heart, and died last year as a result, though i think this was because he was born with the genetic definency of some sort.
