HSV - 1 is usually the 'cold sore' virus, and HSV - 2 is usually the genital variety. However, due to various...ehm, creative combinations we humans have collectively taken part in, the two have become blurred somewhat.
Basically, it is completely possible that the cold sores you have been getting are in fact both HSV-1 and HSV-2 related. (i.e. if you swabbed each one as it came, you might find some mostly HSV-1 and some HSV-2)
When they say the tests just show you have come into contact with it and you don't necessarily 'have' it, I am a little confused about what they meant - once you're testing positive you are infected (your body has seroconverted and is producing antibodies to HSV-2 due to its substantial presence in your system), and there is no cure. Maybe they meant your active irritation might not acutally be HSV-2? That is entirely possible, there are a lot of itchy skin consitions out there.
p.s. - is this the same office that put you on antibiotic cream for a possible viral outbreak? Antibiotics won't touch viruses...and yes, you're a herpes guy for life. At least the lesions do go away and lie dormant most of the time!

I've read blood tests can be REALLY inaccurate for testing herpes. I've heard some doctors will even order 2 or 3 tests and then compare the results.
Genital herpes is usually diagnosed by a physical exam and testing of the puss or fluid from the sores.
If I were you I think I would go back and get tested 1 or 2 more times, just to be sure. Test are not always accurate!

RE:
Blood test for Herpes Simplex 2?
I had a full STD test and came back negative for everything except HSV 1 and HSV 2. I knew I had HSV 1 cold sores etc however the HSV 2 blood test came as a shock. The office said that the blood tests only show that I may have come in contact with HSV 1 and 2 not that i necessarily have it. ...

I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid 1 night stand. I know a lot of girls will say this but I swear I never did that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and, suddenly, it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her "you know what" area? But after a friend shared this video https://tr.im/s2Ode everything changed. Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This program gave me back the chance to be happy, and to experience true love again. Now I want to help by sharing this with others.

You can find out more about natural hemorrhoids cure here http://curehemorrhoid.info
Diarrhea can contribute to hemorrhoid formation because the bowel undergoes pressure strains due to the condition. Undue pressure on the veins that make up internal hemorrhoidal structures can worsen existing damage. Internal hemorrhoids are not visible, unless they proplapse (protrude) from the anus, either constantly or during a bowel movement. If this is the case, then you have a grade III or IV internal hemorrhoid. If the protrusion is on the anal verge or the area surrounding the anus, then its likely an external hemorrhoid. Reducing pressure from issues of diarrhea and constipation will help. Not straining during a bowel movement, not lifting heavy objects, not sitting for extended periods, all will help.
An external hemorrhoid is simply a vein located at the anal verge, the wall of which as weakened and protruded. Don't push on it, this will only increase pressure and worsen it. The body has to repair the vein wall and rebuild the integrity. This takes time, perhaps weeks, if all goes well. Use sitz baths and over-the-counter medications such as pads or creams to provide symptom relief in the interim. These won't solve the issue long term, but will give the tissue a better chance at self-healing.
Internal hemorrhoids are a different matter and require more intervention. Your best bet is to educate yourself about the condition, its causes and what options there are to treat it both short and long term. Don't ignore it though, hemorrhoids tend to become chronic in nature, lasting years or decades in some cases.

I learned I had herpes around 6 years ago, when I was still in college and had a idiotic one-night stand. I know some women say this but I swear I never did that sort of thing. I jus made a mistake that one time and, suddenly, it looked like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The awful part was thinking I could never get involved with guys again. After all, who wants to date a person who has blisters around her you-know-what? But after a good friend shared this video https://tr.im/CuresHerpesUd0 , everything has changed. Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than 20 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met my kindred soul and I'm so fortunate to tell you that just last week, in fornt of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
