Since none of us are your doctor, we can only make guesses and make suggestions. Considering the fever, groggy feeling, sea legs, hacking cough with no secretions, feeling faint, chills and sweats ( associated with the fever).

If you get infected by the flu virus, you will usually feel symptoms 1 to 4 days later. You can spread the flu to others before your symptoms start and for another 3 to 4 days after your symptoms appear. The symptoms start very quickly and may include
Body aches
Chills
Dry cough
Fever
Headache
Sore throat
Stuffy nose
Typically, the fever begins to decline on the second or third day of the illness. The flu almost never causes symptoms in the stomach and intestines. The illness that some call "stomach flu" is not influenza.

DIAGNOSIS
Usually, health care providers diagnose the flu on the basis of whether it is epidemic in the community and whether the person's complaints fit the current pattern of symptoms. Health care providers rarely use laboratory tests to identify the virus during an epidemic. Health officials, however, monitor certain U.S. health clinics and do laboratory tests to determine which type of flu virus is responsible for the epidemic.

But the best thing to do would be to see a doctor, if this does not get better soon.

Sure sounds like the flu!! I've tried two different over-the-counter meds that seem to work well. Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus and Thera-Flu. The best medicine is probably just to let it run its corse, but those products may at least help with the symptoms.

It sounds like the flu all right- A mean case of it at that.

Drink lots of liquids, and get lots of rest. Use hot ginger tea to settle your stomach, or crushed ice and coke (Coke Classic- the other flavors don't work). If you can't eat, don't force it: You'll be sorry.

I've never tried Thera-Flu so I don't know how effective that is.

is your fever consistent? if yes, see a doctor so that he/she can prescribe you some anti-biotics. if you're having a fever, that's an indication that you're having a bacterial infection in your body. usually, your temperature doesn't rise with viral infection (flu), but in some cases it does.

Have your physician swab your nasopharyngeal area for influenza antigen testing. Positive or not, there's not much you can do, but at least you'd know.
