If it were me, I would love anything related to music - like those CDs with nature sounds recorded with music at the same time, or if you have a favorite CD of some kind. As a rule, we Mormons in general avoid heavy metal or hard rock, but I love hearing what other people like in the way of music, and I don't have time to buy everything out there.
But since you list this under Food and Drink - I would say any of the other answers here are fine. If you have something unique to your area - that would be cool - like if you have a particular brand of cheese or chocolate or popcorn or pie.

When I did a work exchange with a Mormon girl in NZ, I gave them a Poole Pottery Dolphin as a gift. Just something from my local area.

Having been raised a Morman I have to wonder what the question is and why so difficult ...... anything that is not a body stimulant will be appreciated as a gift. No alcohol, tobacco or caffiene.
BTW I decided that I like beer, wine, coffee and tea - even the odd Coke, so I kicked that habit..... :0)

It largely depends on the taste of the family. Some may not collect knick knacks There may be a kitchen utensil that they don't have or a soap dispenser for the shower.

It depends on the family. Do they like to play board games together? Do they do a lot of cooking? Do they like to watch movies?
Here are my ideas:
-Board game. If they like trivia, get them a trivia game. If they like acting, get them a game that requires a lot of action.
-If they like cooking meals together, get them nice aprons and/or other kitchen stuff.
-If you decide to get a movie, stay away from anything rated "R" (if you're in the US. In Canada, I think the equivalent rating is PG-13 but I'm not sure). Mormons are advised not to watch anything with lots of violence, with a lot of swearing, drug use, and with sex/sex themes.
-Other things to avoid: coffee, tea (herbal tea is alright though), and anything with alcohol,
