First, there is NO cure for HPV (the virus that causes genital warts). A person can treat the warts and the warts can be physically gone, but that person may still have HPV.
I've read about 20% of people who treat and get rid of their warts, have them come back, and then have to treat them again.
Check out this site for more information about HPV:

I'm thinking you are talking about genital warts here. I'm not sure how much you understand about genital warts, but YOU NEVER GET RID OF GENITAL WARTS! THERE IS NO CURE! Genital warts are a virus that never goes away. You can have the warts removed but the virus is still there and yes the warts can come back. It usually depends on your immune system and stress. If you eat healthy and don't smoke you will usually be okay. The real problem with HPV (human papilloma virus the virus that causes genital warts) is it can cause cervical cancer in women. Women with this virus should have a pap test EVERY year!

If you are referring to genital warts these may go away but you are never cured as they are a virus which will reamain in your body. If your partners also has genital warts then there is no reason why you cant still continue to have sex as you both now have the virus. I would advise however as you have contracted one STD -which warts are that you BOTH get screened for all the others

Human papilloma virus (Genital wart) will remain in the body till the rest of one's life. Both partners can have sex and they may exchange different strains of HPVs. There are more than 70 different types of HPV. Several types are associated with genital warts. Other types are associated with common or flat warts elsewhere on the skin. With proper treatment, genital wart outbreaks of usually can be controlled. However, the warts frequently reappear after treatment. Even after you have been treated for HPV, you may still infect others.
Please see the webpages for more details on Genital wart.

Once you've had the wart virus they can keep reappearing. Providing neither of you currently have warts, and have been checked for other STI's, then it's fine to have sex.
