First, there is NO cure for HPV (the virus that causes genital warts). A person can treat the warts and the warts can be physically gone, but that person may still have HPV.

I've read about 20% of people who treat and get rid of their warts, have them come back, and then have to treat them again.

I'm thinking you are talking about genital warts here. I'm not sure how much you understand about genital warts, but YOU NEVER GET RID OF GENITAL WARTS! THERE IS NO CURE! Genital warts are a virus that never goes away. You can have the warts removed but the virus is still there and yes the warts can come back. It usually depends on your immune system and stress. If you eat healthy and don't smoke you will usually be okay. The real problem with HPV (human papilloma virus the virus that causes genital warts) is it can cause cervical cancer in women. Women with this virus should have a pap test EVERY year!
