Lacto-ovo vegetarians do. There are different kinds of vegetarianism but the one thing they ALL have in common is not eating the flesh of any animal.

Unlike what foxhunter says, you will not get sick from avoiding eggs and milk. Protein and calcium are easily found in many other vegetarian friendly foods.

Unlike what is stated by yet another uninformed poster above, no "real" vegetarian eats fish or chicken and there is also no such thing as a part time or semi vegetarian.

Vegetarianism is generally defined as the practice of living on a diet made up of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts and sometimes certain animal products. Vegetarian diets encompass a wide variety of eating patterns.

A Vegan (strict or total vegetarian) diet is made up exclusively of plant foods, that is, of vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, nuts and seeds. Foods of animal origin, including all meat, fish, fowl, eggs and dairy products, are completely excluded.

A Lacto-vegetarian diet includes milk and other dairy products in addition to plant foods.

A Lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet includes eggs, milk and dairy products in addition to plant foods. Foods obtained by slaughtering an animal are avoided.

Semivegetarian diets may be of several types. An ovolactopollovegetarian diet includes poultry in addition to milk and eggs. For a pescovegetarian diet fish is an acceptable food.

A part-time vegetarian diet is followed by those who rely mainly on plant foods, but who occasionally eat red meat and other animal foods. The 1980s saw a rise in this group.

There are degrees of vegetarianism. Some eschew all meats and animal products (don't even wear leather); some avoid meat but eat milk, butter, cheese and eggs; some avoid red meat but eat poultry and fish.

Some vegetarians object to the inhumane conditions of factory farms where meat animals and laying hens are raised in confinement. Some object to the hormones and antibiotics that such animals are fed. Some object to the unsanitary conditions under which they are slaughtered and butchered. It's possible to get complete proteins by combining specific vegetables, so that one gets enough protein without any animal products.

Not if the egg is fertilized and the vegetarian knows it. A vegetarians who doesn't eat any animal products, like honey, milk, and unfertilized eggs is a vegan.

Why would you not eat eggs or drink milk? No animal dies for you to do that.

You need to eat eggs for protein and drink milk for calcium or you will get sick. People have died from malnutrition. I guess you if you see a pale sickly person walking down the street, they must be one of those fruit cakes who avoids milk and eggs, lol.

My daughter is vegetarian and she does, she just doesn't eat the body of an animal. some people, vegans, avoid all animal products. it just depends. some people are vegetarian because of how they feel about animals, for moral reasons, others for health reasons, and of course, some for both moral and health.
