Genital herpes will never go away. It is a virus and there is no cures for viruses. So, once a person has it, they will always have it.
The sores and symptoms can go away with medication, but they can always return. The virus lives in the nerves and at the base of the spine and under certain circumstances like stress, it can trigger an outbreak and cause the sores to return.
And, yes, genital herpes sores look like cold sores. They usually appear as several sores though, not just one or two.

Its a lifetime thing. A lot of people have it and don't even know it. Most people have a large outbreak when they first get it. This can be helped by taking meds but it won't cure it. Its very important to have safe sex since you never know what the other person has come in contact with. They say that you can't transfer it unless you are having an outbreak, but that isn't true.

You have it forever. The sores come and go (if you get them) but as time goes on the frequency becomes shorter, and may even stop all together. Certain things can trigger an outbreak (like periods, or an illness (as it lowers the immune system)) The virus lies dormant in the bottom of your spinal cord.
They usually begin as blister type things (this stage isn't always present) then they dry up and turn into red little bumps.
Your doctor, or go to a GUM clinic. You will get tablets and cream (if you actually have herpes)
Echinecea is good for herpes, as is tea tree oil.
Only the minorty get symptoms!
Practice safe sex.
You may have either the HSV-1 (generally cold sores) or HSV-2 virus (generally genital herpes) but both can be passed to the genitals or the mouth. HSV-1 doesn't thrive below the waist, and HSV-2 doesn't thrive below the waist.
If you have the symptoms; drink plenty of water, take salt baths, put cold tea bags on the infected area

I got diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 3 years back, when I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I realize lots of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/h6fAi everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all remnants of the hsv from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This program provided the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

Herpes is a viral infection. It will not go away but you do have a choice. Either pump yourself full of drugs, which are toxic and will just fill your body with chemicals or you can use the best alternatives in the world.
I work with the pioneers of products which are based on a science which took 4 Nobel Prizes for Medicine, this is not snake oil. Don't listen to those who say that anyone who is not a health professional is not worth listening to. If drugs were the answer then no-one would ever die, do you want to take the risk of side-effects? The large majority of drugs on the market have serious side-effects. You cannot overdose on naturals. These work. They have the capability to repair, prevent and maintain the immune system, which will deal with your herpes.
Take care.

Unfortunately once you have the herpes virus, it is with you for life...treatments containing acyclovir (not sure if correct spelling) can be used to help with the aggressiveness of the symptoms. You need to avoid sunbathing, stress and I am sure I read somewhere that certain foods like nuts can aggravate symptoms. Obviously if your herpes is genital you need to use condoms when symptoms appear, while you have the sores and until it is completely gone, if its cold sores around the mouth you need to avoid oral sex when you have a cold sore.

It never leaves and lies dormant even if there are no symptoms.
Only people who have been in contact with a herpes virus can get coldsores - such as German Measles.

Once the herpes virus gets into your system you have it for good. It lies dormant in the body till the next outbreak.
