You can use a grinder, it isn't straightening it per say, but it would fix the problem of a bent knife tip. You can straighten it with pliers, a hammer, a vice, or whatever else you have similar to those, but grinding the blade down a little will not only fix the blade better, but make it sharper too. If you don't have a grinder, don't think you can get the angles right, or just don't want to do it yourself then you can go to a local gun shop and have them fix it for you. Most gun shops also sell/repair knives and would likely do it for you, for a price of course, but it shouldn't be too much.

if it's only a very tiny bit that's bent you are probably best filing it off and re-grinding to bring back the edge.

Once bent it's pretty unlikely to get it straight again. Hitting it with a hammer etc isn't going to work unless you heat the knife up to red hot. If it's high carbon steel heat it very carefully (could shatter) and be aware that you will lose carbon by heating and weaken the knife.
If it's just a cheapo then go get a new knife ;)

Wrap a kitchen towel lightly around the tip of the knife. Now take a small hammer, I always use my small craft hammer, and tap the tip of the knife very softly. The kitchen towel will prevent indentations from the tapping.

Is anyone worried about Irina?

I take my knives to a local knife store that does sharpening. They can straighten it for you also. Look in the yellow pages and find a store like that. Hitting it with something is only going to make it owrse or ruin the quality altogether.

Bung it in the bin & get a nice one that does not do that. Or, heat the tip up on a gas hob until cherry red, then give it a straightening out in a vice, or even a hammer-bash on a nice flat surface should fix it.
Or better still, get a plastic one. they snap, and are re-cyclable.

As a chef for 20 odd years, I can tell you that grinding with either an oil stone or whetstone is the only really satisfactory way. Beware, though, if you don't know what you're doing, you could ruin your knife. If it's a good one, take it to your local butcher's shop or pub/restaurant where you could get a professional to do it for you. (Most chefs I've known can be bribed with a pint of beer or equivalent to do this for you)

I don't think you can, is it just the very tip that is bent, why not just grind it down a little and make a new tip, the knife will be a bit shorter but better than a bent tip.

i've managed to straighten a knife tip with a pair of plyers before now, obviously depends on the type of knife and plyers used though.

spend a bit of time on a sharpening stone that im afraid is the only way a nice oil stone will do the job and put a nice edge on your knife

heat it till glowing orange put it on a flat preferably anvil type surface and give it a good whacking with hammer!!
