You can absolutely get the virus (HPV), whether he has warts or not.
There is NO cure for HPV. Even though most people are able to get rid of it on their own, there is technically no cure, even if he has had the warts burned off.
HPV is a virus that can be passed even if the person isn't showing any symptoms (herpes is too). So, if you have sex with him it is still possible for you to contract the virus from him.
It's always possible his body was able to get rid of the virus after he had the warts removed. Since there is no test for men to detect HPV though, it's pretty impossible to know whether he still has the virus or not.

They say the virus stays with you forever, like every virus. There is no cure, but the person's immune system keeps it under control and suppresses it so that it doesnt cause symptoms like warts or cervical cancer. But while most people will develop a strong enough immune response, about 15% will not and may get warts, and cervical cancer many years after infection. The fact that one's immune system suppressed it does not mean that he or she is not contagious anymore. He or she can still infect others and remember condoms do not provide protection against HPV because it is passed by skin to skin contact and while the condom covers the penis, it will not cover other infected skin such as the pubic area. They say it still reduces the risk a little bit if you use condoms but it is a fact that they will not be 100% effective. The figure is more like at 38%. I would consult a doctor. I am no expert and I am learning about this too.

Yes. that is the common way.
Causes Of Genital Warts
HPV virus causes genital warts. There are more than hundred HPV virus types. Only the type HPV6 causes anogenital warts. After one gets the virus, one may not get genital warts for months or years, but becomes a carrier. During that period, the affected person may pass on the virus to others. If you are in sexual relation with someone and if he/she shows no outer sign of warts, it does not mean that they cannot pass on the virus to you. Even they might be totally unaware that they are carriers.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 5 years back, whilst I was still attending college and had a mindless one-night stand. I understand lots of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with someone who has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/2NiOX everything got better.
Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This method gave me back the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

My best info says that you CAN pass it without symptoms, just less likely.
Viruses tend to stay around, bacteria can usually be dealt with using antibiotics.
