Unless there is going to be sexual intercourse on the date there is no need to consider STD testing. I would carry a couple of condoms just in case. If a serious relationship develops, and sexual intercourse is likely then both partners can be tested for STD. However, remember that this will be reliable only if both partners remain monogamous. It's the 21st century and you must consider that one night could ruin your life.

I think that if you are going to be intimate with this person then I would do it. wether or not you want to take the next step. The results could make or break a relationship.

It's not neccessary if you are just dating. But I would encourage YOU AND YOUR PARTNER to see a doctor before having sex. Just to make sure you both are free from std's or worse.
