Each couple(family) would do either hors doeuvres, dinner, dessert & after dinner drinks.

they're called progressive dinners. but i'm hearing there's a new way to have these. you have them but at restaraunts. let's say you have three couples who want to host. you have one couple (maybe two) foot the bill at the bar you have cocktails, then you all drive to another destination, the resaraunt for dinner which another couple(s) foot the bill. then you all drive to another restaraunt (or coffee shop) and have desert and coffee. it's kind of a neat idea and i think me and my family will do this for my birthday. we'll see. good luck.

A "Progressive dinner party" or a "round Robin" By the way if you are thinking of suggesting one..... They are a logistical night mare. Sounds like fun but...not so much

I have done this and it was a pain in the neck. Just have a potluck dinner so everyone can be in one place.
