Try the powdered egg items. The majority of those are totally artificial. Any other type of egg substitute is actually either COW or TURKEY based and uses animal proteins. There is also a liquid egg white replacement as well, but you have to be careful with those since over 90% of those are based on animal proteins.
You should really look into the avoidance of eggs some more and maybe make an exception on this one item. The body needs various type of proteins in order to exist and you cant quite get them all being on a total vegan diet.

Applesauce will not work. Go to a health food/vegan-friendly shop and buy egg replacer. It is combined with water and similar to egg whites, but non-animal in origin.

The correct answer is Xanthan Gum. Use 1/2 tsp. per egg white called for in your recipie!

Try to imagine the volume of an egg, and put in that much applesauce. I think that might not work f you don't want your cake to have a hint of apple, though.

you should make a choice over whether icing is more important than veganism. Looks like you can't have your cake and eat it (or ice it, anyway!) :-)

margerine (vegan kind of course) and soymilk and lotsa sugar then mixxxxxxxxxx away
*add some sort of extract to make it more flavorful ...it an option of course
