We don't need to hear those types on noises! I have to walk out of the room when I hear my housmate eating cos he slurps. I can't stand it. It makes fingernails on a chalk board sound pleasant!

I have the same problem, especially with chewing sounds. It's been a huge problem all my life - some people are just disgusting when it comes to sounds like smacking and slurping, but I think the problem lies mainly with me. It might help to find a therapist who has experience working with sensory integration disorder. It's a relatively new area of psychological research. Other than that, maybe they can help you habituate to certain sounds (painful as that is). Good Luck!

What I have noticed myself is that sometimes these things mildly annoy me and at other times, I'm biting my tongue people are getting on my nerves so bad. So I have just come to the conclusion that if my own personal mood and frame of mind is not good, i am not able to accept other people for being just that----people. Try and relax

I must add that the clever wit of some people here is refreshing

I get irritated too. I think its because i find it rude. However coughing though irritating is not rude.

My pet hate is when someone has a cold and instead of blowing their nose does that horrible snort and swallow thing. It makes me vomit.
