Anna Nicole Smith's son died from a lethal combination of antidepressents in his body. I was reading an article on it and the pathologist said that zoloft and lexapro can be lethal when taken together. So I decided to check for drug interactions online with these two medications and every website says there are no interactions. Is this false information?

That information is false. It is very dangerous and could lead to death. It will lead to a situation called Serotonin Syndrome.

There is no logic in combining SSRIs. You have to wait 3 months for the result after reaching the maximum dose of an SSRI. In the case of a single SSRI doesn't provide enough response, you can try:

Switch to another SSRI
Augment the current SSRI
Drugs from other classes (eg. Bupropion, Mirtazapine, Clomipramine etc...)

I am on Lexapro and was on Zoloft before. My doctor never prescribes more than one antidepressent to you at a time. When he switched me from zoloft to lexipro he just stopped the zoloft and told me to start the lexapro the next day. I did. I suppose that you could say that it could be lethal if you had heavy amounts of each in your system but if you stop one and start another I think that is fine. I have done it. I don't think that taking more than one at a time is a good idea anyways. I guess that it would make it lethal and it the pathologist found that that was what killed him Anna Nicole Smith gets a little bit richer after she sues the doctor that prescribed them.
