You can. There are several holiday firms that do this, it depends on your age group. It also depends on how far you want to go, as non-air travel does restrict how far you could realistically go on a week. Try Club Cantabrica for Europe (younger and mixed market) Wallace Arnold (UK Europe - Older Market) LegerHolidays - Most places (mixed, but lots of Amerikanski) or top of the tree, 5 star coach stuff is with Tauck Tours.

the fact that they don't advertise them (much) does not mean that you cannot book bus, coach or train journeys through a travel agency... you CAN

Bus, coach and train journeys are very easy to book yourself these days and because they don't tend to be for long distances, there's less commission.

www.nationalrail.co.uk for trains
www.nationalexpress.com for coaches.
And buses- just buy the ticket on board.
