Only Christians say you have to follow their religion to get to heaven. All others teach that the way to heaven is by ethical behavior. Many do not teach that there even is a heaven.

I say you have to hula hoop for 60 months straight while balancing a thousand chiclets on your nose.

Religion won't get you to Heaven.
Religion is man made, and that is why there are so many problems regarding it.
In order to be assured of a place in heaven, one needs to be 'born again' of God's Spirit. Let me explain.
You have been born of the flesh, when you entered this world, but you were also born with a spirit, and that needs to be reborn spiritually.
In order to be born spiritually, you need to believe in God, and ask Him to forgive you all your wrong doing, with a sincere heart. He gave his life for you and took the punishment which you and I deserved on the cross. You need to FEEL sorry for your sin, and turn away from it. This means to REPENT. Then ask God to take control of your life from now onwards, rather than living to please yourself.

You have to belong to a religion that believes in heaven and you have to belong to a religion that you believe in. So long as you believe, that's all that matters.

If you swear that you believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden, demons in every corner and the dead waking up, you're supposed to get into heaven. More likely, you'll end up in the local asylum with irrational beliefs like that.

Every religion on earth claims to the the one and only truth. So, take your pick. The silliest has to be christianity as it's god's bastard son who gets executed for becoming a heretic and blasphemer you're supposed to pray to, not god. Gererally called polytheism.

God made everybody different, and because we are all different, he provided many different routes for us to get to the same destination. There is no "right" religion. Why must people be so stupid to ridicule and beat up on other religions? The Muslims and Christians are the WORST culprits as far as that's concerned. Choose what is best for you and learn tolerance towards the views and religions of others.

Most religions think that only thier own group can get into heaven. This doesn't make sense if they claim also that God is Just and Merciful.

A Just God would judge each person according to his or her own knowledge and understanding. We each have been given certain intelectual capacity and spiritual inclinations. Our job is to continually seek the truth. If a person does not try, they will be held accountable for that, but if they truly try to find the correct path to God, and they logically and sincerely (not emotionally) believe they have found the true path, they will be judged according to that. We humans can't say who will enter heaven, but surely God is most gracious and most merciful.

The Catholic church teaches that salvation also resides out of church or religion...there are lots of poeple who have never heard of God and yet they've lived genuinely good lives...so yeah..they'll get into heaven..after a short period in purgatory. Everyone will go to purgatory for most of the sins they have commited..some of them you will suffer for on Earth. . The point of faith and religion is to do good works and to thus store up, for yourself, treasures in heaven so..no, all people will not be equal in heaven. This is why people who know about God will be held more accountable for sins than those who don't know anything about God or heaven. You can avoid going to purgatory if you get a plenary indulgence at the point of death....quite impossible since, you'll neither know when you're about to die or won';t have the energy to complete a plenary indulgence if you're on your death bed...sorry to go on and on...but if you want to know more (though you probably don't) you can write to me at aosundebecky@yahoo.com.

Possibly a religion that believes in the battle of Good and Evil, and this world of ours is totally evil.

NB All churches, mosques, synagogues, etc are things of this world.

See what the gnostics, the Cathars, and the mystics had to say about non-attachment.

Heaven has nothing to do with religion. It is a state of mind.
