I made potatoes the other day, and I chopped them into strawberry size pieces and only boiled them for about 15 minutes. They made pretty good mashed potatoes.

Cutting the potatoes will help them boil faster. Make sure to cut them into halves at least. To check when they're done, just poke a fork through one. If the fork slides through with ease, they're done! Boiling potatoes usually takes about 15-25 mins depending on how many you make.

You can chop them so they cook faster and I presume you will then be making mashed potatoes. But for whole boiled potatoes boil until a fork easily penetrates the potato. Then they are done.

if you are using Yukon Gold or red potatoes, cut into quarters, boil until a fork slides easily into them. about 20-30 minutes once water hits a boil.

don't boil russets, they are like glue when boiled, especially mashed.

Wait for the cubed potatoes to boil , then poke with a fork until tender, then drain.

the size that you cut your potatoes would depend on what they were to be used for if say for potato salad you would cook them to they were just done and not mushy and the sice you cut them would be howyou wanted them to look in your potato salad...cooking the potatoes is best by checking them frequently with a knife blade...say you want buttered parsley potatoes you would want them about 1 inch cubes so it all will just vary...remember the smaller they are the faster they cook and is more likely quicker to overcook...cheers....

Chop them up. The smaller you chop them the less time it will take. Make sure that they're all about the same size or else you'll have some that are cooked and some that aren't cooked all the way through. Keep putting a fork in them, when your fork goes through easily, then they're done.

Not chop them - in big chunks maybe three inches or so. You boil them until a fork stuck in one breaks it up.
