I want to pop the "big" question soon but I have run out of ideas as to when & how .......mayb lack of confidence, am scared of rejection (coz I believe it is never done till it is done, mayb she changes her mind at the last stage).

Personally I wouldn't. Some things should be left alone, but it depends on your relationship. I know my man. If I did it, he would feel emasculated. Some men don't give a crap. Some men don't care until their friends start to make fun of him for not having the balls to do it himself. Sometimes a woman will be set on doing it until her friends talk her out of it. If you are in a relationship, you should know what will be okay and what is stepping over the line. I have two girlfriends that proposed to their boyfriends way too soon (like 4-8 months into the relationship) and both of them were dumped. Just because you are ready at "hello" doesn't mean he will be ready as quickly.

I know how it feels but to telll you the truth that there is one in a billion chance that she will reject you or say no if you have not proposed properly.
I assume you know your woman very well as you have mentioned MY GAL
If you are serious about marriage then you should know her likes and dislikes and having known that take her to a place you frequent or go out often or depending on her taste and your pocket take her to a fancy dinner with a ring in your pocket and pop the question to her make it simple something like " I love you very much will you marry me, I am prepared to wait for you if you want, as i dont want to rush things with you coz you know i love you very much and your happiness means more to me than anything else"
Let me warn you though if she is going to say no she will say no but dont let your world crash tell her that you are prepared to wait.
BUT ACCEPT A NO GRACEFULLY AND ASK HER AGAIN AFTER A FEW DAYS AND DONT LET YOUR WORLD CRASH

When she gets home leave a "riddle" note for her to, for example, find something red in the bedroom. She goes in the bedroom and finds a red rose with another note to, say, go into another room and find something else, which will contain another note. Have her go around the house, yard, etc. where the last note will be found with you in a secret location surrounded by rose petals or something like that. It'll bring tears to her eyes!

YOU MUST GET DOWN ON ONE KNEE!!! It's tradition!!! and very romantic! I have never been proposed to, but I would be disappointed if the man didnt get down on one knee. I think doing it at a very fancy resteraunt while you are both dressed up would be very nice :) Good Luck

take her to dinner in a nice resteraunt and propose to her over dessert, you cant beat a classic or you can do what i done...climb on stage after the band stops ,invite her to join you and do it then but remember to go down on one knee...we like that.
