Sounds a bit weird, but try it, costs next to nothing.......My hubby cooks fish in abudance, fry's 50 at a time, when I get home from work my house stinks of fish........when he does his "escovich", I know that is probably spelt wrong, it gets rid of the smell throughout the house, all he does is in a pan, get the pan hot and add some vinegar..............thats it, let it boil up for a minute or so.......hey presto.....no fishy smells.

Open windows on either side of your house...and open all the doors inbetween...this will get a nice fresh draft coming through the house. You shouldn't need to use febreeze or oust unless it has really engrained into your furniture/upholstery. About an hour of that and you should be back to normal.
Also, if you cook something that smells nice for lunch that will counter it a bit.

Yahoo Answers will put it right...
Open all the windows and leave a couple of bowls of bicarb or vinegar out. And apologies for the poetry outburst there!

Boiling a lemon helps, as does opening windows. Do the hoovering and polishing this evening and make a pot of curry for dinner. It will put a nice smell of curry in the house.

Warm a little vinegar on the stove when you cook fish or other strong smelling food. It will help get rid of the odor.
