In Bhagavad Gita, it is mentioned by Lord Krishna that
“All purposes served by a small well can at once be served by a great reservoir of water. Similarly, all the purposes of the Vedas can be served to one who knows the purpose behind them.” 2.46

Mother Saraswati is DemiGod or Devata where as Krishna or Vishnu is Supreme God. Bhagavad Gita does not advice one to worship Devata or Demigod.

It is said clearly
“Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures.” (7.20)

Even for those who worship’s Demigods, The Demigod have no independent right to give any thing to the worshiper. Those Things are infact given by Krishna himself.

This verse of Bhagavad Gita confirms this.
“Endowed with such a faith, he endeavors to worship a particular demigod and obtains his desires. But in actuality these benefits are bestowed by Me alone.” (BG 7.22)

As far as Knowledge is concerned, Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita,
“I am seated in everyone’s heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas, I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedänta, and I am the knower of the Vedas.” BG 15.15

Hence according to Bhagavad Gita, One should engage in worship of Lord Krishna alone, because he can provide every thing, either knowledge or wealth or any thing. There is no need to go around different Demigods begging for different boons when all the boons can be got from Krishna, and rather Demigod gets the power to give a particular boon from Krishna himself.

“I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.” (BG 10.8).

I don’t have any thing against Mother Saraswati, I am just telling what the Shastra says.
