Fact: strong and salty
Opinion: disgusting
I recommend Vegemite. It's also a dark-coloured savoury spread made from malt extract. To enjoy it, toast a piece of bread till golden brown, smear with butter, then use very little vegemite--just enough to lightly colour the surface of your bread. Tasty! But if you use too much vegemite or opt out of the butter, might as well feed your bread to the dog.
Vegemite on crackers is also nice!

Marmite is yeast extract.
Recipe:
1 slice of your favourite bread
Spread bread with your favourite butter
Thinly spread Marmite on top of this.
Variation
1 slice of your favourite bread toasted
(CAUTION: An acquired taste/do not try it on a teaspoon !)
You will have to spend 68p on a small pot to find out:it has a very distinctive flavour,very savoury,and intense,honestly the only thing that tastes like Marmite is Marmite, though vegemite and bovril are different but in the same family of spreads.

I love it. It's a taste you can't describe really. I don't think it tastes that salty, a bit like bovril, but not.
Really, I can't describe it. Get a small jar, and spread it thinly on toast for a taster, the caption is true, you really will love it or hate it!

It's very similar to 'Vegemite' and 'Promite' (both Australian). It's got a very strong and salty taste. It's great on toast, sandwiches and dried biscuits.
