Hmm, what were you doing in court hey? I admit, being on a bus in some places is ridiculous, because there are a hundred different languages being spoken and not one of them is English! But is it really that bad a thing? Sure you can't understand what they are saying, but why would you want to? If you need to speak to a shop keeper and they can't/ won't speak English, then don't buy from their shop anymore.
I must agree aswell that there is a stupid view in this country that only white people are racist. Not true.

It has to do with the "LAW OF THE LAND". I am from Asian background but I am in Australia and I have to speak English. If people don't want to follow the law of the land, make sure you have some points. if you enter a land where English is not the main language, obey the law there and do not expect respect because you have to make an effort to understand the culture there. I do believe that the shop keepers should try and follow the law of the land because they are not in their home nation.

I think you have a acute sense of paranoia! Just because you feel like that doesn't mean they do. A question for you - if you had a shop in another country would you not speak your mother tongue in peoples presence? I think not. There are bad white people as much as anyone else. The sooner people get used to the fact that we live in a multicultural world the better! A point I do agree with, however, is that benefits should not be dealt out so freely but that is to any kind of person who is in for a free ride regardless of skin colour.

Because they choose to, its entirely up to them and yes you are racist by even bringing this question up in the first place.
On the same note why do all the Brits speak English when they are abroad? The answer is that we think that we are above all other nationalities and that they should speak English, when in fact most Brits are too lazy to learn another language.

I couldn't agree more. I have Indian friends and colleagues and they are lovely, but I can't bear the way many are, such as those you described. I worked in the East End of London and the area around Brick Lane was 'their' territory. The street signs are in English but with their language above it. I believe in trying to welcome people but not to the extent of renouncing our own culture. They have complete religious and cultural freedom here, but we should not be expected to give up Christmas or print leaflets in foreign tongues. By pandering to them the Government is upsetting the indigenous population and there will be trouble in the not too distant future because people can only take so much.

Perhaps the UK can take a leaf from Australias book. In future ALL Australian immigrants have to take a test, part of which is an english language test. No pass, no entry into Australia. Tough. But necessary.

they play the race card cos they can. if we comment on it we are accussed of being racist. in my job, jobs are priced up before the work is carried out. unfortunatly we dont have a system in place where people have to sign to agree it first. you do the work, fix the appliance and then they say 'sorry i misunderstood the price, my english not very good' management over rule us engineers and we end up charging less to keep the peace. what can we do about it, jack sh**

surely this is a racist question. If and when you go on holiday abroad or emigrate will you make the effort to speak their langauge. only a bigot would ask such a question, do yerself a favour and join the B.N.P. so that you will be able to rant along with other like minded (small minded that is)idiots. That is the problem nowadays we are so quick to slam the zealots in finsbury park who shout hatred of our country, and yet we are just as guilty of doing the same back. LIVE AND LET LIVE WE ARE ALL HUMAN BLOODY BEINGS AFTER ALL.
