There are a number of theories about AIDS which make claims about the origin and/or nature of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and AIDS that differ radically from mainstream beliefs. These theories range from claims that HIV is not the principal cause, to suggestions that AIDS was the inadvertent result of medical experiments, to claims that HIV was deliberately created.
AIDS is thought to have originated in sub-Saharan Africa during the 20th century. It was transferred to humans by a similar route as some classic Old World infectious diseases. The ancient Old World was the incubator of many diseases like smallpox because it had large human populations in close association with large animal populations, especially those that lived in herds or social groups.
HIV originated in primates as far as is known. Possible ways for this virus to have originally infected humans include the hunting and eating of the original primate species; a bite would be another possible route. From this point, the virus ultimately spread to the rest of the world.
Since a cross species jump is most likely the origin of HIV, and since HIV became a true epidemic, transmissible from human to human, then the following conditions were needed:
-A large human population,
-A large nearby population of the appropriate host animal,
-An infectious pathogen in the host animal, that eventually produces a mutation that can spread from animal to human,
-Interaction between the species to transmit enough of it to humans to establish a human foothold, which may take millions of individual exposures,
-A mutation of same pathogen that can spread from human to human,
-Some method that allows the pathogen to disperse widely. This prevents the infection from "burning out" by either killing off its human hosts or provoking immunity in a local population of humans.

Most researchers believe that HIV originated in sub-Saharan Africa during the twentieth century;it is now a pandemic, with an estimated 38.6 million people now living with the disease worldwide. As of January 2006, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) estimate that AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since it was first recognized on June 5, 1981.

People having sex with monkeys???? Some people belive anything. There are similarities between AIDS and a disease affecting green monkeys in africa, but its easier to assume it would have been spread via a bite rather than a bit of simian lurve.
The conspiricy theories are quite interesting, Theres one involving smallpox vaccinations in africa, and another concerning hepatitus treatments for homosexuals in New York. Look on Wiki or just google it.

Actually HIV started from a man and a monkey..and the HIV turns to AIDS after a while and then your body becomes so weak that you catch a common cold and die. So, with evolution people say we came from monkeys, and where are the monkeys today? Africa.

I'm not absolutely certain at the truth in this, but I've heard that it's something to do with African tribal traditions of sexual intercourse with monkeys. Something about it being passed from monkeys to humans through sexual intercourse.
where it came from is not important. Where it's going is more serious and we should do everything to stop it spreading and for finding a cure. It's a dreadful disease that has destroyed many lives and left many children orphans.

Monkeys in Africa. Humans killed the monkeys and ate them, obviously not knowing that they were contaminated. Don't know if there was cooking involved ... or not.
Apparently AIDS was in the human population of Africa as early as the 1930s. Imagine ...

Two species of HIV infect humans: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is thought to have originated in southern Cameroon after jumping from wild chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes troglodytes) to humans during the twentieth century.HIV-2 may have originated from the Sooty Mangabey (Cercocebus atys), an Old World monkey of Guinea-Bissau, Gabon, and Cameroon. HIV-1 is the most virulent. It is easily transmitted and is the cause of the majority of HIV infections globally. HIV-2 is less transmittable and is largely confined to West Africa. HIV-1 is the virus that was initially discovered and termed LAV.
Three of the earliest known instances of HIV-1 infection are as follows:
A plasma sample taken in 1959 from an adult male living in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
HIV found in tissue samples from a 15 year old African-American teenager who died in St. Louis in 1969.
HIV found in tissue samples from a Norwegian sailor who died around 1976.
Although a variety of theories exist explaining the transfer of HIV to humans, no single hypothesis is widely accepted, and the topic remains controversial. Freelance journalist Tom Curtis discussed one controversial possibility for the origin of HIV/AIDS in a 1992 Rolling Stone magazine article. He put forward what is now known as the OPV AIDS hypothesis, which suggests that AIDS was inadvertently caused in the late 1950s in the Belgian Congo by Hilary Koprowski's research into a polio vaccine. Although subsequently retracted due to libel issues surrounding its claims, the Rolling Stone article motivated another freelance journalist, Edward Hooper, to probe more deeply into this subject. Hooper's research resulted in his publishing a 1999 book, The River, in which he alleged that an experimental oral polio vaccine prepared using chimpanzee kidney tissue was the route through which simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) crossed into humans to become HIV, thus starting the human AIDS pandemic
