I have had nightly dreams of my college ex-girlfriend for 35 years...and yet I'm happily married with a wonderful family.

You are the only one who can really have the final word on what your dreams mean.
However, my (educated) guess is that there is some aspect of your former boyfriend that you still feel attached to and that you are missing in your present relationship. Is there something about that former boyfriend that made you feel good and that you are lacking now?
This doesn't necessarily mean your present relationship is doomed. Maybe it's just a question of finding what's lacking that your subconscious is bringing up to you, discussing it with your partner, and finding a way to incorporate it in your couple's life. In any case, I don't believe your subconscious brings you anything unless it believes you can turn it into something positive.
As for feeling guilty, you really shouldn't. You can't control your dreams. It diminishes your present commitment in nothing.

mayb you're not completely over your ex. mayb he played a big impact on your life when you were together. or mayb you have thought about your ex lately quite often and now that you're seeing each other again it brings back memories of the times you shared together. this happens when someone comes back into your life. it doesnt mean that you dont truly love the man that your with, it just means that you havent quite stopped thinking about your ex yet, and once you've finally let go of your ex, you'll be able to dream about the man you love.

Few possiblities.

1. Proud ego - subconsciously you want to tell yourself you are still popular and wanted by many. It does not matter if you are married or have current relationship. That just happens to someone.

2. Discontent with current relationship - May be you are not satisified with your current relationship in some aspect or moment. Dreaming back perhaps will find your happy moment.

3. Replacement symbol - He is just a symbol of how you love you current man. Somehow he lurks into your mind instead of current relationship. Perhaps, current relationship reminds you of him and that is why you dream about him

4. Not over yet - you may not completedly get over with him.

take your pick.

The old boyfriend must be the man of your dreams. Maybe it's that youthful spark that is so difficult to find as you get older. You shouldn't feel guilty, it's ok to remember a pleasurable experience from the past. You could use it to make the present more interesting.

Because you think so much about him instead of thinking about your new relationship.

Wake up he is gone make the best of what you have now. How would you feel if your current boyfriend should be dreaming about his ex. girlfriend.

Think about that

Sounds to me as if you have some unresolved issues with your ex. I wouldn't act on trying to contact him in any way. You are both now in relationships and you contacting him would cause hurt to two people. Are you really happy in your current relationship???

if you love somebody, lets pretend that's a tree. the root will stab deep inside our heart. and if you pull out the tree, ofcourse it will leave a deep hole in our heart. thats why u still dream about him. try to fill the empty hole with new soil. or even try to plant a new tree with different specias - in this case, say it , your new man - thats it.
