It depends what you are into.
I know couples that have a done a tiki tour of Thailand for a honeymoon, and others that have gone to the quiet and secluded end of Phuket. They all seemed to enjoy their time there.
There is plenty to do in Thailand although the tour guides don't always take you to the most interesting places.

Phuket is the best place in Thailand for honeymooners.
Overthere has nice views, especially when the sun set.
Also accommodation in Phuket has a lot of hotels like boutique hotels, comtemporary hotels and Southern of Thailand style hotels. All of them are nice and comfortable for honeymooner.

The Dusit Thani Hotel not sure about spelling but its great there and the area is superb - markets day and night- spectacular views - suites - transportation..basically everything and do not take much luggage with you as you will want to buy all the clothes and things for sale so leave plenty of room in case!

If you want the beach, then probably Phuket.
If you want tours around the mountains, and vist hill tribes, and see handicrafts, then Chiang Mai.
It can be very cheap if you want it to be, or slightly more expensive you can find some luxury hotels. There's hundreds of good restaurants with food from all nations - not just Thai food, which is excellent.

Excitement, big city life with lots of shopping and nightlife/entertainment - try Bangkok.
For peace and quiet, some time to be together - Chiang Mai.
For all of the above and throw in the beaches, you can try Phuket, Samui.

Phuket Island is the paradise for honeymooner. This Island has beautiful sun sand and sea. And has many wonderful hotels. I suggest you to search at www.excelloz.com or www.yahootravel.com for reserve hotels.
