I think taking a class would be the best, but I'm kinda low on funds right now, so I'm just reading a book, from the library, about how to go about it. It's so hard to read chunks of words at a time after reading one word at a time for twenty some odd years. In fact, it's really frustrating. I'm below the average adult reading speed, 250 words per minute right now, but not too far off. Any tips??

from what i have seen the speed readers in any group are the ones that read the most. this might not be why, but if you think about it someone that does something all the time in most cases will be quicker. and also to some reading at a certain speed is natural and not anything they learned. i know that myself im a pretty quick reader. for example read the first 4 harry potter books in less than 24 hours and had number 5 done bout the same amount of time. the reason with 5 being so slow was my mother would not let me sit and read. i think she was afraid i would finish before her. when first started 3 of us were on the same page for bout 20 pages, after that started to pull away which is when my mother had me doin all kinds of stupid things to waste time. also with number 6 finished in bout 2-3 hours. last time my reading level was evaluated and i was told of results was told as a 3rd grader was reading at a 12th grader level. right after that was put into 5th grade. over the years my speed has probably gone up and down recently but a book bout 150 pages only takes at most an hour, 300-400 bout 2 1/2-3. so if you want to get quicker at reading get some books of a type you like, and kind of time yourself and slowly work towards a certain goal.
