I often see new students try to throw a wild punch and end up spin like a ballet does. Even after they miss repeatly, why do they bother to try it again and again?

because they throw a roundhouse punch instead of a straight punch. The force of the roundhouse punch will make a person spin instead of lunging forward due to centrifugal force.

Firstly the act of trying again and again is to be commended... not the cowardly act of giving up immediately because something does not work as planned.

Next it is a simple act of inertia... paleeeeeze

Try teaching them better and you wont have this problem - will you? By the way, if a man who puts his weight into a punch connects there is not enough martial arts in the world that will keep you from having to eat through a straw.

I think the key word you used is "beginner" - focus on that. If you are so much better take the time to teach and not criticize... who knows, you might get a good opponent out of the deal one day.

I have always, and will continue, to laugh at martial arts "experts" who end up on the ground because they discount the heart of a man less refined that simply has the will to continue to come back in spite of pain or odds.

Be happy for their heart and exploit it... don't discount it.

i am goin to take a wild guess and say that maybe they put too much force into the puch, miss cause of lack of training/experience, and the arm still has momentum, person not ready for that so they end up spinning

They are over extending their reach and the momentum of the blow keeps their body rotating. They need to take a lesson from Little Rudy Goldman Rocky Marciano's trainer he tied his feet together with a 24" string to teach him balance.

The body responds to the brain. Training will give you some reflex but will not carry the day. Visualization. They just aren't seeing it.

They are off balance. If they are new they need to be taught to find their "center".
