These are caused from accumilated blood left in the muscle area after some activity.

It helps to do gentle stretches after a long day. Rubbing the affected area with an ice pack before going to bed will also help.

The information above is for charlie horse type spasms but if you are refering to what is known as restless legs syndrome (where the legs jerk and twitch) they dont have a cure and can only treat the symptoms with mild muscles relaxers before bed.

This sounds really weird, but medical columnist Dr. Peter Gott keeps getting letters about the effectiveness of soap under the bedsheets as a remedy for leg spasms or cramps. I don't pretend to understand it, but if it works, go for it. Check out the first link below for more info.

Is there a cure? If muscle relaxers are needed, and they might be, get Skelaxin, your doctor must give you a prescription for it. Do not take Flexeral unless you just want to be high and not get rid of your pain. I also use ice.
