Anyone born in the west, whether its the USA, or anywhere else in North America, Central America, or South America, is TECHNICALLY native american. The term is used to describe a race of people though, so you would be conflicting with generally accepted definitions. You lose.

White people are European-American, btw.

I live in Canada within an area in which I am among very many Natives, and am also close friends with many of them, and from my perspective as a Caucasian human while interacting with my Native friends, I suggest that you see yourself as Native. No matter where you were born or where you live doesn't have to be an issue, unless of course, you feel more comfortable to call yourself Native American. Bottom line is...We are all the same! :)
Natives here, call themselves Natives..Never heard of them define themselves as Native Canadians.
