it really depends.

i chat alot in a rather big chat site.. "dating" there is really a joke. regular chatters switch partners often and nothing is ever taken too seriously.

places like yahoo personals, eharmony, even hotornot have had people find their loves and end up getting married.

really, it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. it matters what you think. online dating can be a fun way to get some confidence and some attention/affection. if you want it to be and take it seriously, you will find partners who take it just as seriously as you do. you could very well find a long term mate in online dating.

I met a man who initially I thought was great. After a while, he showed his true colours. He was a cheat, a liar, and after moving in, made little effort to get a job, sponged off me until I found out he was having an affair and then I chucked him out. That cost me an awful lot of money, total heartache, and I've now vowed to be a man-free zone from now on. It is easier and cheaper. So my advice to anybody tempted to try it, don't do it, unless you can afford to lose your heart and your money, and be totally taken for a mug.

I would NEVER, NEVER, do it again. Yes, there are some complete nutters out there and the rest of them are totally desperate no-hopers.

If I sound bitter and twisted, that is because I am!!!

I have tried a few and they are rubbish! People e-mail you and you send 3-4 between each other then they just stop! No reason no explanation, nothing. It takes the personal touch away from it and people are cruel. and no one ever wants to go on a date, what's that all about!!

I tried it twice with one company I was 100% truthful and got only rejections and with another company I lied about one thing - I said I was earning £500,000.00 per year aside from that my profile was indentical and guess what - I got dozens of offers for dates.

Basically my experience is that online daters are gold diggers.

It sucks ***.

If you're a guy you'd want to find someone pretty I assume....well you would have 100 other leg humpers after her too, it's no good chances are low. Better to take your chances "out there"
